About us

Spadework is a charity that fosters inclusion and belonging by providing opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen community and enhance wellbeing. We enable people to be more independent, feel less isolated and to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

We support more than 115 adults with learning and other disabilities, who are known to us as our Trainees. Through a wide range of meaningful activities, including horticulture, woodwork, creative arts, cooking, life skills and performing arts, Trainees have opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, develop friendships and achieve greater independence. Every day, our Trainees work alongside staff, volunteers and one another, creating a supportive community where everyone can thrive.

We also support people living with dementia and those who care for them through a range of dementia-friendly groups, activities and support services. These sessions provide opportunities to stay active, maintain social connections, access practical support and enjoy meaningful experiences in a welcoming environment.

Our wellbeing services support people experiencing challenges with their mental health through activities such as community gardening, woodwork and other therapeutic programmes. These services provide opportunities to improve wellbeing, connect with others, learn new skills and build confidence in a safe and supportive setting.

Across all of our services, we are committed to helping people feel connected, valued and supported. Every year, hundreds of individuals benefit from the opportunities and community that Spadework provides.

Based on our peaceful five-acre site, Spadework offers a welcoming space where people can learn, grow, connect and flourish. Through meaningful activities and shared experiences, we help improve the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of those who visit us.

While we receive funding from a variety of sources, we rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, trusts and community groups to continue delivering our vital work.

Thank you for supporting Spadework and helping us create opportunities that change lives.
