Spadework

About us

Spadework is a charity that enables people to be more independent, feel less isolated and to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

We support more than 116 adults (who are known to us as our Trainees) who have learning and other disabilities. They come on site each weekday and participate in horticultural activities like growing vegetables and cooking what they grow. Our Trainees also enjoy creative arts, and performing arts and woodwork as well as learning and practising life skills. Through these activities our Trainees interact with each other and with our staff and volunteers, developing skills that enable them to achieve their full potential and to be more independent.

We also provide services to people living with dementia, offering carer and support groups, peer groups and activity groups.

Our wellbeing services support people experiencing issues with their mental health.  Time to Grow is a community gardening project and Woodwork for Wellbeing enables people to use our woodwork workshop as a base to be creative and spend time catching up with others.

We enable many local people to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. We connect communities.

Our five-acre site is a peaceful space where we share meaningful projects which contribute to the physical and mental wellbeing of all those who visit us.

While we receive funding from several sources, we depend on donations from individuals and organisations to support our work.

Thank you for supporting Spadework.
